For those seeking a more off-the-beaten-path safari experience, Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park is an excellent option. Often overlooked in favor of the more famous Serengeti and Ngorongoro, Tarangire is a hidden gem known for its enormous herds of elephants, which often number in the hundreds. The park is also home to a variety of other wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and a myriad of bird species. One of the park’s most iconic features is its towering baobab trees, which dot the landscape, providing an extraordinary backdrop for game drives. The Tarangire River, which flows through the park, is a lifeline for animals, particularly during the dry season when many species congregate around the waterholes, creating prime opportunities for wildlife viewing. The park’s lesser-known status means it tends to be quieter and less crowded, offering a more intimate safari experience. TANZANIA SAFARIS
