Other important Kharif crops are paddy, particularly in regions with good irrigation facilities like the eastern parts of the state, and maize, which is grown both for food and fodder. Pulses such as pigeon pea (arhar), black gram (urad), and mung bean (moong) are also commonly cultivated during this season.
Rabi Season (Winter): The Rabi Season, which starts in October and ends in March, sees wheat as the dominant crop across Madhya Pradesh, followed by gram (chickpea), which is another major crop in terms of area and production. Mustard and lentils are also grown during this season. The availability of irrigation, particularly in regions like Malwa and central Madhya Pradesh, supports the extensive cultivation of these crops. Additionally, certain areas grow vegetables and garlic, which are marketed both locally and in other states.

This strategic approach not only maximizes productivity but also contributes significantly to the state's economy.
